"Beyond the Boat" - Innovation programme launched to stimulate new seafood tourism initiatives

In a bid to diversify Scottish seafood businesses in 2022, Seafood Scotland has launched a new the Beyond the Boat innovation programme, aimed at encouraging businesses in the sector to spread risk by diversifying their offering and enter into new and emerging sectors. 

Through the programme, Seafood Scotland hope to inspire seafood organisations to capitalise on the opportunity presented by the growth of food tourism in Scotland.  It is hoped that the programme can identify businesses in the sector, that have an idea that will; 

  • provide an authentic or innovative experience
  • tell their story as an engaging and immersive experience
  • answer a question that customers regularly ask
  • ultimately increase their revenue  

Programmes that are selected by Seafood Scotland, will receive specialist advice and guidance, including a Seafood Scotland "mentor", as a means to encourage and fast track the businesses particular idea to fruition.
